Scanno Records

Post by vagabond »

I am researching a couple of family names from the Scanno area - Serafini and Ciancarelli.
Are there any available record sources online?

Serafini, Cesidio immigrated to the US, I think 1905. On US records, father was listed as Frank and mother Nunzia Mastrogiovanni.

Ciancarelli siblings Guido, Luigi and Domenica immigrated to the US between 1902 and 1921 (father Felice).

I find L'Aquila images but I don't see anything I can look through from Scanno. Does anyone know of good Scanno sources??

Thanks so much!!!!!

Welcome to the forum!

There are these earlier records. It doesn't look like the records after 1861, which you will probably need first, have been filmed.

Hi there!

For Scanno records between 1865 and the present you would need to contact the comune directly. L'Aquila only has records online for 1865 and earlier, because the state archives in L'Aquila doesn't hold any records for after this period. They are held by the individual comunes. Unfortunately, Scanno comune doesn't have traditional email, so it would require sending a PEC email (Posta Elettronica Certificata - a strange Italian email certification system) or giving them a call directly: 0864-74545

I hope this is helpful!

Good luck with your search!!

Hi Laura - what is the PEC email??? Can you tell me more about it or send me a link? I have a birthdate for Cesidio Serafini and would love to find a record. I did find his parents marriage in the 1860's records but Cesidio wasn't born until 1882. I'm not certain how any of this works in Italy as it's my first foray into this branch... Thank so much :)

Laura, hello. What does PEC email stand for? A link or further information would be helpful, please. Cesidio Serafini was born on this day, and I'd want to locate a record. However, Cesidio wasn't born until 1882, despite the fact that I did locate his parents' marriage in 1860s records.wordle today It being my first journey into this field, I have no idea how any of this operates in Italy. Sincere gratitude

A PEC is a "certified email" is an email that has legal value.
For instance, it sends a receipt that it has been delivered and read.
It is the electronic equivalent of a registered mail.
You can request a PEC address only if you have a "codice fiscale", that is issued to Italian citizens, and foreigners residing in Italy.
However, even if you had a PEC, the Municipality wouldn't look for a birth "after 1882". You should provide a more accurate range of years.

I just registered and got a PEC email yesterday. You can generate a codice fiscale using an online Italian generator.
