help with Atti Diversi

Post by dmt1955 »

I could use some help, pls....

I understand that Ma Michele Guardabascio is free from any family ties, and declared that she recognized the child she naturally procreated as her own child. [she is on his birth act and father is not named].

After that I am a bit lost with the translation and the purpose of this declaration.
[the only writing that I did not include in the snippet are the witnesses]

thanks,
donna

It states that the birth is found written in the register of the civil state-the 29th of Dec 1810-under the number of the act 532, with the name Francesco Saverio Lorenzo-the one who was born of the same declarant on the indicated day month and year

thanks so much. what is your thinking about why this declaration might be necessary....the birth is in the 1810 acts and it is number 532. the mother's name is on the birth act, father is not named. this is also what i am confused about --- if all the info matches, what would be the purpose of this act. i am interested in your thoughts/experiences with similar.

thanks again, erudita. hope all is well with you.

For reference, here's a link to the original birth record

http://dl.antenati.san.beniculturali.it ... ewsIndex=0

Donna, I have never seen a subsequent act of recognition for a child, when the mother was named in the original birth record. I see that the midwife gave the mother's name in the original birth record and am wondering if the midwife was forced by the town or parish to name the mother at the time of the infant's birth. even though the mother herself did not consent to be named at that time.

You continue to find records with unusual circumstances. Maybe some other volunteer has a plausible explanation. I'm at a loss with this one. Sorry.

All's well with me. Had a nice, but partially rainy, visit with our kids and granddaughter.
