need help transcribing #119 Atti Di Nascita Angiolina Costantini

Post by GeneTree »

attached are the original Atti page 1 and 2 for my wife's maternal grandmother from 1892 in Citta Sant'Angelo, Pescara. I need help transcribing the preliminary birth record and a little help translating a few additional Italian words.

How would you best translate the Mayor's name and occupation?
Antonio Coppa (Avvocato) (Cavalier) Sindaco
I realize Avvocato is Lawyer but what is the best translation for Cavalier? (Horseman, Cavalryman, Gentleman, or?)

What do you see as the street name for Via Goicolanti?

Is (ferraro) used in the testimony an occupation. What is the name of the testimoni of (A Guardo Valloreo)?

What is the correct word for (cinquedestanove) after Giuseppe Grilli and before calzolaio?

Do I have any other words a little off?

I'm reading the surname to be Valloreo which is found in Citta Sant'Angelo.

Quickly, re your transcript:

I would translate avanti as “before”. It sounds better than “ahead”. (“In front of” is good too.)

Domiciliato in questo Comune.

“Del detto” (mese)” is two words.

The mother is Sofia Comignani.

Edit to Add:

The word is "soltanto" not "sottanto"

Thank you both LivioMoreno and AngelaGrace56 for your help in answering my questions. You both make it fun and helpful to follow up on my requests.

Livio, it makes good sense to translate Cavalere as Sir. And the street name as Zoccolanti makes sense when I enlarge the original.

Angela, translating the witness surname as Vallereo makes sense when I enlarge the original. And adding the name as showing up in Citta Sant'Angelo adds to the validity.
