The writing is greatly faded...difficult to read.

#31
Dated 29 August 1907
Before the official appeared Antonino Delfino, 34, farmer residing in Bova Marino; and Antonino Ambrosio, 21, farmer residing in Bova Marina, to declare that at 2 AM (?) yesterday in the house in contrada Rago'(), died Giovanna Delfino, age 2 months, resident of Bova Marina, born to Demetrio [Delfino], farmer and Rosa Campi(?), farmer, both residing in Bova Marina.
Witnesses to the recording of the death: Giovanni Nicola', 45, shoemaker; Matteo Maduri, 48, landowner, both residing in this town.

Thanks!! Rosa's last name is Crupi.

Were the declarant(s) required to be family members? My guess would be no.

Thank you for the clarification on the surname of Rosa.

In answer to your question, the witnesses were usually people who just happened to be at the town hall at the time of the declaration of death (or birth) and acted as witnesses to the recording of the act. They generally were not related to the person.
