I have two photos with letters on the back that I need translated. Both of these photos are of my wife's maternal grandfather's funeral in 1964 in Gizzeria, Catanzaro, Italy where he died. His body was returned to the United States in Pittsburgh where he was buried in Allegheny Cemetery.
Photo 1 is carrying the casket out of the second story of the church service. Photo 2 is the procession of the casket on the ground. I have attached photo 1 titled 1964 precession of the casket and the letter on the back.
I will attach photo 2 on a seperate post.

The phrasing is a little strange to me, but I believe that it reads
They don't have hold of it very well and it was taken when we left my house and my cousin Giacinto and others carried him out of the house.

I wonder whether the word "appigliate" here is referring to the actual photo, meaning that the photo wasn't taken well, or didn't come out very well? (Evenso, it's a fantastic photo. Wow!)

That could be. I haven't seen appigliate used for photos, but I'm not a native speaker and I have plenty of gaps.AngelaGrace56 wrote: 29 Jun 2019, 01:15@bbivonabbivona wrote: 29 Jun 2019, 00:47 The phrasing is a little strange to me, but I believe that it reads

I agree with Angela. He meant to say "non ha pigliato", in the sense that the photo didn't come out very well.
