Looking for ancestors in Treviso province

Post by sirrush »

Hello everyone :)

I am experiencing difficulties in completing my family tree on my great-grandfather's branch (to whom I owe my surname) and was wondering if anyone had information or tips on how to proceed.

Guerrino Costante BUSOLIN, my great-grandfather, was born on the 8th of September, 1892 in Cimadolmo, in Treviso province. He married Oliva BONOTTO in 1922 before emigrating to southwestern France. His marriage certificate lists his parents as Paolo BUSOLIN and Marina BELLUSSI, who were already deceased (so somewhere between 1892 and 1922) and who lived in Cimadolmo.

This is all I know about my great-grandfather and his parents, I would like to know more but I have the following problems:
1. The Stato Civile of Treviso only provides acts dating from Napoleon
2. FamilySearch has no acts for Cimadolmo

I have no way of knowing if this absence of acts is due to incomplete uploading of information or physical destruction of archives (we are after all on the Piave front of WWI!). I've noticed in other villages on FamilySearch that some archives have whole years missing, which is odd. Up until now I've been waiting to see if there are updates but the process is very opaque and I'm getting impatient

So there it is, does anyone have information or tips on how to proceed given the apparent lack of internet archives? Maybe I am missing a source? Grazie mille in advance to anyone who can lend a hand  !

Birth Certificate in Trieste

Post by Sdufaur »

Hi,
I am trying to locate my fathers birth certificate in Trieste. Is there anyway that I can do this?

He was born in 1948.

Thank you

Bumping this with two additional questions :)

1. What on Earth is a "pizzicagnolo"?! This was my grandfather's profession, and I've found only exceedingly vague information on it. It seems to be a regional term, so I guess this is a question for Veneto experts ^^

2. My great-aunt said something confusing about some Egyptian origins in the family, and I've linked this to some info I found on the Bellussi family, who allegedly came to Veneto in the form of a wealthy widow and her four sons fleeing the plague in Cairo in the 1620's, with camels charged with gold. There seems to be some truth to this picturesque legend, the info apparently comes from the book "La Storia di Tezze" by A. Bardini. If anyone has any info on the book, the Bellussi family or other merchant families returning to Italy from the Ottoman Empire I'd be more than glad to hear it :)

A grocer, I'd say
Giuseppe "Pippo" Moccaldi

You may want to apply for your grandfather and father's birth certificates at the municipalities of Cimadolmo and Trieste, respectively.
