Need assistance with #12 1831 birth record of Angela Maria Olearo

Post by jrbak »

Hi,
May I please have some help with additions/corrections to this birth record:

February #12 (Does this triangle have any significance?)
Angela Maria Bertola legitimate daughter of Giuseppe from Lorenzo and from Maria Olearo, and Theresa from deceased Giuseppe Boratto and from Angela Zucchino, spouses Bertola, born on the 16th of February and baptized the same day (what is a me jubsignato). Godparents are Antonio from said Lorenzo Bertola and Maria daughter of Francesco Orione.

Thank you for all your help and have a good evening. I will post more on Monday.

Just to add to what Livio has said here, I am reading that:

"Angela Maria Bertola, was the legitimate daughter of Giovanni (not Giuseppe), from Lorenzo, and from Teresa from deceased Giuseppe Baratto....."

Re Baratto/Boratto, both spellings appear in Piverone today.

Re the triangle: Either the priest was just doodling, and/or, because Christians believe in a "triad" God, ie Father, Son and Holy Spirit, (Trinity - the three in one), possibly the triangle represented this? The triangle is also a sign of strength. Just my contemplating here.

Dear liveomoreno and Angela,
Thank you for the translation help liveomoreno. Wow, Angela, good insight! Thanks for the corrections as I get going too fast sometimes and I make these errors. I am happy for all the corrections. This is why each of you are senior translators and we are lucky to have you all.

Happy to help. It looks like I was correct about the triangle being a symbol of the Trinity. I just googled the Trinity and came across the following, which basically says that it was one of the first symbols of the Trinity. You might be interested in reading through the article here. Maybe you'll come across some of the other symbols as you journey through the Church records in Piverone.

Dear Angela,
I was doing some followup on Angela Maria Bertola (my mistake on Olearo) today and happened to see your comment following my thank you to you which I had not seen before. I am so happy you found this article on the Trinity and other symbols which I will copy and read more thoroughly. You know how much I enjoy these articles and it is a very good one. I have seen a cross before and I think others but never paid any attention to them. It must have had meaning to the priests though. Thank you again,

Glad you saw the post and have found the article interesting. I enjoyed it too. You may find the following interesting as well: https://blog.billiongraves.com/catholic ... e-symbols/

Funnily enough I just received an email today with the link to this article. It's really interesting. I live very close to an old cemetery which I love walking through with family and/or friends. I've always wondered about some of the statues etc there and what they meant. Enjoy!

Angela :)
