Vizzini Marriage Records + Question

Post by mnaccarato »

Below is the Marriage Act and Marriage Publication of Benedetto Pantorno and Giovanna Asta. Can I please get a cross-reference on the two translations? Additionally, why is the Marriage Act in Part 2, Series A? Is it because the original record was provided by the church and if so, is there a way to access that online? Additionally, I went through the allegati for marriages in Vizzini in 1932 and there's wasn't included - any ideas on where this could be? Thanks!

Act #60. Dated October 18, 1932. I, the Civil State Official of Vizzini, received from the Parish of San Gregorio Magno, Priest Sebastiano Gandolfo , the original marriage certificate which shows as follows:

October 18, 1932 in Vizzini in the Parish of San Gregorio Magno, they were united in marriage according to the right of San Ramania Church, Priest Sebastiano Gandolfo.

1. Benedetto Luigi Pantorno, single, 22 years old, tailor, born in Vizzini, resident in Vizzini, son of Giuseppe, resident in Vizzini, and of Marianna Arfi, resident in Vizzini.

2. Giovanna Domenica Asta, single, 17 years old, housewife, born in New York, resident in Vizzini, daughter of deceased Salvatore, residing in Vizzini during his lifetime, and of Sebastiana Cutrona, resident in Vizzini.

To the spouses was read the articles 130, 131, and 132 of the civil code of the kingdom of Italy by Priest Sebastiano Gandolfo before which the marriage was celebrated. The Civil State Official verified that the publications have been read here on the 2nd and 9th of October, the current month.

Act #66. Dated October 1, 1932. Appeared Benedetto Pantorno, 22 years old, tailor, resident in Vizzini, son of Giuseppe, tailor, resident in Vizzini, and son of Marianna Arfi, housewife, resident in Vizzini; And Giovanna Cutrona, 70 years old, housewife, resident in Vizzini, paternal grandmother and guardian of Giovanna Domenica Asta, 17 years old, housewife, resident in Vizzini, daughter of deceased Salvatore, resident of Licodia Eubea while living, and Sebastiana Cutrona, 38 years old, housewife, resident in Vizzini.

They have asked me to the publications for the marriage that they intend to celebrate in this commune of Benedetto Pantorno and Giovanna Domenica Asta; they have declared to me that the groom was born in Vizzini and the bride in New York, and that they have resided in Vizzini for one year and one day. There are no impediments by the parents, by kinship, or by law.

These declarations have been confirmed, with oath given in the legal forms, by Giuseppe Rigio, 64 years old, [profession?], and Giovanni Lentini, 55 years old, shoemaker, both residents in the commune, witnesses present at the act.

The documents are: copies of the birth acts of the spouses issued by this office on September 28th; the requested death act of Salvatore Asta, father to the bride, released by the office of the Civil State of Licodia Eubea September 26th; the requested acts of Parroco of S. Gregorio Magno on September 23rd; The act was read to all and signed by all, except for Cutrona as she declared she was not able to write.

On October 2, 1932, Sunday, the publication was posted on the door of the municipal house. On October 9, 1932, Sunday, the second publication was posted on the door of the municipal house. The previous publication was posted until today, October 31, 1932.
