Organising Your Family History

Post by chiddicks »

It's taken me a long long time to get myself organised, no system is perfect, believe me! Mine has evolved and been adapted over the years, normally when I have been unable to find something when I needed it most, or I have downloaded or ordered a certificate twice!

I have added pictures and written up how my system works. I use a lot of templates and sheets that I have made for myself, if anybody wants a copy of any of these, don't hesitate to give me a shout.

Wow...I'm so unorganised. This gives me a place to start. I love the idea for what records you have for each individual. I often ordered things twice. Also forgot I had info I was still looking for.
Thanks chiddicks

Well I really admire how you organized your research. But that's because I NEED to be organized at all times. I have used Family Search forms for family information, that I've done by hand, but I liked your form for Annie Day. I have also used the clear sheets and slipped copies of docs into them, which also are in binders but not he 3-inch sized ones. Recently I decided I need to reprint some of those because the printer at the research library was pretty bad and copies are not as clean. I hate re-inventing the wheel there. But it must be done. I have an in-computer program (somewhat old) that I will be entering in my research information so that I can print out charts & trees. I've been lax on doing that. Anyway, here's to research & organization! :)
