Oh my gosh! I got back on the computer this morning and what an awsome surprise!!! You guys are wonderful! Yes, yes, yes, this is he! Thank you everyone so much for all you hardwork. All of this information looks great. How can I get an actual copy of the draft card? does anybody know? I would just make a copy off the computer but it is so small and difficult to read. Everyone will be so excited. You made my week Thanks, :D cateyanne

Yes unfortunately I am not very computer literate... just stumble along learning as I go. I thought there might be a way to enlarge from my end but have tried the buttons I know and of course no luck lol!

Hi All,

I'm going to try and link the larger view of this record for you. I actually saw this last night but like Lisa, Imageshack was giving me trouble last night as was Ellis Island site so I turned off the computer. Slept in this morning and was late for work so I didn't have time to link it then either. Glad suanj found it...she's awesome at this stuff!

Hi Again,

Great work Suanj! :)

Per the WWI Draft Card, he was living in Philadelphia, therefore, there is a good chance that he was Naturalized in Philadelphia.

Here is the address for the National Archives which is for Federal Court Naturalization.

NARA's Mid Atlantic Region
Archives Facility
900 Market Street
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 19107-4292

Telephone: 215-606-0112
E-mail: philadelphia.archives@nara.gov

They said it's $10 for the document. You need to send as much information as you can. If they can't find, they will let you know and give you back your money.

If it's not there, then it's in 31st & Market Streets in the Philadelphia Archives.

The Philadelphia City Archives
Suite 150
3101 Market Street
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 19104

Telephone: 215-685-9401

I'm usually up in the NARA Office and the Philadelphia Archives once a month looking up information for clients.

Smile for me!:)

Dear Suanj,

I do hope that I am understood your statement correctly. If not, please forgive me for I was a little confused by your question. I hope this answers your request.

When requesting for Naturalization Records you should give the following information.

Full Name of the Individual:
(Remember to include – Nicknames, various spellings, and Americanized names)
Date of Birth: (if known) or Year of Birth:
Spouse’s name (if known)
Immigration Date: (if known)
Naturalized between:

An Example would be:
Name: Giovanni DiIorio
Aka: John DiIorio, John Diorio
Year of Birth: 1893
Spouse’s Name: Maria Carolina (aka- Mary or Caroline)
Immigration Date: 1906 (per ship’s manifest)
Naturalized between: 1910-1920
(per the 1920 census, 1930 census, and WWI Draft Card)

Each State Archives and/or County Archives charges a different price for the naturalization records. Therefore, please call to check how much the records will cost and if it includes the postage price.

The Mid-Atlantic Region holds naturalization records for the FEDERAL Courts in Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia. I have a break-down of the exact Counties and years of the records for the Mid-Atlantic Region.

State Courts and County Court naturalization records are held in both the State Archives and County Archives.

If all else fails, write to NARA itself http://www.archives.gov/genealogy/naturalization/

Naturalization records after 1908 give you tons of information especially if the gentleman was married. Naturalization records are extremely important if you have no idea where your ancestor is from.

Also, remember that a person can Petition for Naturalization in one County and be Naturalized in another County.

However, it’s only my personal opinion to always have the naturalization records of your ancestors. If you already know the town your ancestor is from, then you can just jump right into ordering the microfilm for the town and start the research. (I already gave the poster how to obtain records. I just thought she might like to have the naturalization records also since the poster stated she didn’t have much information on him.)

I hope this answered your question. If you have any other questions, just ask.
