Spelling of Mother's name

Record # 74 for Giuseppe Pomo. How do you spell his mother's name?

Isn't Don(for men) and Donna (for woman) a 'title" somewhat equivalent to "Lord"?

Also, what is the age of the deceased? Looks like 72 to me, but fuzzy.

Lord is a title of nobility. Don and Donna were used by the nobility, but in practice it was often used for well-respected persons who were not nobles. If I'm reading it correctly, the deceased is Maestro Giuseppe Pomo, and his father is Maestro as well, usually indicating a master artisan or perhaps a teacher, certainly also someone respected.

As for the age, I'm not sure, and 72 is possible. The handwriting is unclear, and the stem for the "d" in due is a long way from the settanta, but nothing else seems to fit very well either.

Thank you. So is the name Donna Ilaria mean the first name has been omitted or that Donna is the first name?

Donna would be an honorary term and Ilaria would be her first name. The surname would be what is omitted. Ilaria is an Italian girls name, the equivalent of Hillary.

Good to know. I've never seen that name before despite having thousands of Italians on my Tree. Thanks.
