Thanks, Tessa78.

This is an interesting find because I have records of Mariaurelia DiRago married to Tommaso Nigro, with 4 children. I also have death acts confirming their union.

Death Act #19 in 1877
Tommaso Nigro, age 39, farmer (Husband of Mariaurelia di Rago)
Father: deceased Prospero
Mother: Angelarosa Marsciano

Death Act #92 in 1885 in Viggiano
Mariaurelia Di Rago, age 41, born in Viggiano (Widow of Tommaso Nigro)
Father: deceased Leonardo
Mother: deceased Rosamaria Miraglia

The information is almost identical to the marriage act of Mariaurelia and Giacomo with the exception of the bride’s mother.

I was never able to find a marriage act or publication for Mariaurelia DiRago and Tommaso Nigro. And it makes me wonder if there might have been a spelling error with the mother’s name or if Leonardo’s first wife passed away and he remarried her sibling/cousin.

Here is the birth act of Giacomo Nigro in 1833 - parents are Prospero Nigro and Angiola Rosa Marsicano.

I located two Tommaso Nigro births in Viggiano - one in 1838 (which would be correct based on the death act...) and another in 1836. Neither of these have parents Prospero Nigro and Angela Rosa Marsicano. -(

the one in 1838...

Another in 1834

Thank you for checking. I had searched 5 years before/after 1838 for Tommaso's birth act but didn't find it.
I did find his 4 siblings, all born in Viggiano in 1825, 1832, 1833, and 1845 so I am surprised his record is missing.

Revisiting this July post because I hadn’t realized its significance until yesterday! I’ve been working on this branch of the tree for 5 months but keep coming up empty.

I’d love and appreciate thoughts from others.

What I do know:

Giacomo was born Oct 1833 to Prospero and Angela Rosa Marsicano
I wasn’t able to find a death act for him

Tommaso was born ~1838 to Prospero and Angela Rosa Marsicano
I wasn’t able to find a birth act for Tommaso listing above as his parents

Maria Aurelia was born July 1845 to Leonardo and Eleanora Maria Miraglia

Giacomo and Maria Aurelia married Oct 1862
I wasn’t able to find birth acts for any children between them

Tommaso and Maria Aurelia had 4 children, at least that’s what I’ve been able to find
I wasn’t able to find a marriage act between Tommaso and Maria Aurelia; Tommaso’s death act lists Maria Aurelia as his wife at the time of his death.

Tommaso’s age is inconsistent throughout the documents, which is understandable but one in particular throws everything off:

Tommaso’s age in 1866 as listed on 1st child’s birth act = 30
Tommaso’s age in 1869 as listed on 2nd child’s birth act = 30
Tommaso’s age in 1873 as listed on 3rd child’s birth act = 36
Tommaso’s age in 1876 as listed on 4th child’s birth act = 46
Tommaso’s age in 1877 as listed on his death act = 39

My first thought was that Giacomo passed away shortly after his marriage to Maria Aurelia but I didn’t find a death act to confirm this.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions, ideas, thoughts on where to look next.
