Help with Publications record

Post by JohnBhoy »

This record relates to my GG Grandparents Dodero /Maritano, I have marriage certs information etc and I understand towns they were from, publication in both towns, parent names but was just looking for a translation of this Publications record,

entry number 16

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903 ... at=1019419

Interested to know handwritten info at bottom, also whether it gives any relationship between couple and the witnesses - mother of grooms' maiden name was Lombardo, I see a witness is Ferdinando Lombardo - possibly an uncle / cousin.
Many thanks for any info

In the printed section on the witnesses the handwritten part just gives name, age, and occupation. At the bottom the handwritten text just states what documents were provided and date they were provided, the name of the parish, then says that the act was read to the parties and they all signed. At the very bottom the intended spouses just have their signatures and then the witnesses' signatures are followed by "witness." It finishes with the signature and title of the local official that handled the document.

While Ferdinando's relationship isn't mentioned on Felice's marriage record, interestingly, the following page is the marriage of Ferdinando Lombardo. If you look at the signature at the bottom of Ferdinando's document, it would appear to be the same signature as on the previous page where he is a witness. The ages are the same on both pages and also note that Felice is a witness for Ferdinando. On Ferdinando's marriage record it gives names of his parents.

The record is dated 11 October 1879.

The information about the spouses and their parents would be the same as the marriage act.
The witness to the recording of this act, Ferdinando Lombardo, is age 23, a farmer, and there is no relationship given in the record.

The area at the bottom of the record indicates that the official received the birth information of the spouses from the parish of this town (Sant'Antonino di Susa) on 9 October, and from the parish of Sant'Ambrogio on 5 October.

Right column indicates the posting of banns on 12, 19 and 23 October 1879

Sorry for the duplication :-) I must have been typing when bbivona posted.

Many thanks bbivona and Tessa78, all info is appreciated, I haven't done much searching on the Lombardo side yet as the help you guys and others have given over the last few weeks had opened up so many links for my initial search on Dodoro and Maritano. The info re Ferdinando is helpful as will hopefully lead me along the Lombardo side of the family next.

Best regards and enjoy the rest of your day,

thank you.

It was definitely an interesting coincidence that the witness' marriage record was on the succeeding page. Things don't usually fall into place quite that easily.
