Puzzling word | bisnonno's birth certificate |

Post by Tesauro »

Geetings,
Working on some genealogy research and I'm puzzled over a word on my great-grandfather's brith certificate.
In the column that names "Padre e Madre," the mother is clearly "Teresa," but I cannot make out what it says for the father.

I was expecting it to read, "Teodoro," but the word appears to start with an "F.

And have a look at the birth record above. Antonia Nigro, in the same "Padre e Madre" column, appears to have the same word named for father.
"Frato" something?
Can anyone make it out?

Grazie,
Jason Tesauro

It is suppose read "padre ignoto" i.e. father unknown. Can you post the actual Birth Record. What you have posted here is the index. Thank you.

Yes, I read "padre ignoto", too.
And in fact, they both have mother's surname.
