Out of the Box help- Carmine Rapuano

Post by telesino »

For many years i have been trying to find some history in the USA for Carmine Antonio Rapuano. So far he has been elusive. What i know for certain. His parents were Salvatore Rapuano and Teresa Pacelli. He was born 07/19/1883 in San Salvatore Telesino. His Italian military record identifies he was listed as being in Pittsburgh, PA in 1904 by the Consulate there. His military record also indicates he was in America in 1915. There are no marriage or death records for him in his Italian hometown of San Salvatore Telesino. I have not been able to locate him in a USA census, or marriage or death record. There is a Carmine Rapuano of Woburn, Mass but that is a different person.

Any leads would be greatly appreciated.

Might be helpful for me to identify a couple other Carmine Rapuanos who are not winners for me either:
(1) Carmine George) Rapuano died in Wilmington DE in 1957
(2) Carmine Rapuano immigration 1876
(3) Carmine Rapuano immigration 1880

Hi Tom,

Have you seen this transcription? It indicates Carmine was born in Benevento, about 20 miles southeast of San Salvatore Telesino:

Yes, I just found that he was age 24 when he died.

Thank you for the other "Carmines"

Do you know of any siblings?

EDIT TO ADD:
Considering that you can find NO record in the US (marriage, census, death, etc.) - this article from a Pennsylvania Newspaper in 1932 might be a possibility. The Carmine Rapuano in the article was residing in Canada for about 24 years.

Yes. I have much information for his two brothers when they came to USA.

(1) brother Geremia (b 09/28/1889); various versions of his name, ended up with James.
(2) brother Constantino (b 06/06/1895).

and other information for his siblings who remained in Italy. Carmine has been hiding for quite some time. My grandfather also kept a family tree of sorts he prepared in the 1940's and listed him as Carmen.

Yes, thank you Tessa. i had seen that article and, unfortunately, it remains a possibility. in all my other searches using the information from there - Canada, Fayette Co. , Pa, etc... i could not locate any other information about a trial, verdict or other that might indicate whether that Carmine A. Rapuano was my guy.
