Difficulty opening pictures from Antenati SAN's website

Post by gerro »

Hello everyone,

I was trying to open some pictures from the Villaricca birth registers, but for many of the years I was looking through almost all of the pictures are non accessibile, everytime the "Platform error" error shows up

The specific name I was looking for is "Giuseppe Capocotta", he should be in image 47 of 1840's 24025 birth register
Fortunately there is the index in the first pages, which actually opens, but almost all the other pictures give the same error
(http://dl.antenati.san.beniculturali.it ... iewsIndex=)

I am desperate to get this info since I think I finally found the track that I was looking for, but it's a shame that right now the site doesn't work well!

Please tell me if you can see the images, I would be glad if you could share them!

Hello,

For some reason I can only visualise images up to no. 45, but the following ones are unavailable.

Tried also with Familysearch, but their records cannot be visualised on-line. You will have to go to a Family History Research Library to access them.

There is a workaround to the dreaded "Platform Error". It's not elegant but it works (except in cases where the image itself is truly missing due to a corrupted file).

If when clicking on the thumbnail (whether the thumbnail is present or if it is a broken link) you get the platform error, here is how to get the image:

1. Right-click on the thumbnail image and open it in a new window/tab. For Image 47 it still returns Platform Error. The url is

Code: Select all

http://dl.antenati.san.beniculturali.it/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=315637784&g2_serialNumber=2&g2_GALLERYSID=9d26a5c682442d0f2d65528c7968663a
2. Trim the url to remove everything after the itemId and the number, as follows:

Code: Select all

http://dl.antenati.san.beniculturali.it/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=315637784
3. Reduce the itemId number by 1. That should pull up the full-size image from either image 47 or image 46.

Code: Select all

http://dl.antenati.san.beniculturali.it/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=315637783
4. Voila! You have record #20, birth of Giuseppe Giovanni Salvatore Capacotta.

5. To navigate forward or backward image by image, increase or decrease the itemId number by 3.

In past experience does the Antenati repair the broken links?

Thank you
