Hey everyone! I have been working on tracking down family records for a 1948 case. I am having some difficulty and I am hoping that someone on this forum might have some suggestions for where else to look. The case centers around my great-great grandparents Michele Isola (born Jan 8, 1876) and Genoveffa Gaudiano (born May 28, 1878) both in Calvanico, Salerno, Italy.
Using Antenati, I was able to find Michele’s record easily. http://dl.antenati.san.beniculturali.it ... 6.jpg.html
However, I cannot find anything for Genoveffa. I went through every single year available in Calvanico in Antenati looking for it and I was able to find one for her younger brother Rocco (born Oct 25, 1886). http://dl.antenati.san.beniculturali.it ... ewsIndex=0 . She also had a middle brother named Sabato (born March 1881) who I was also unable to locate anything for.
I then went through the death records in Calvanico and found the following:
Her mother Carmella Chieffo http://dl.antenati.san.beniculturali.it ... 8.jpg.html
Her father Michele Gaudiano http://dl.antenati.san.beniculturali.it ... ewsIndex=0
Her sister Maria. We always knew she remained in Italy but we knew little else about her. http://dl.antenati.san.beniculturali.it ... 6.jpg.html
This record indicates that Maria was born in sicignano. I search every year of birth records in sicignano that were available and found nothing for Maria, Genoveffa, or Sabato. However, the years 1877-1880 were unavailable online, which is around when Genoveffa should have been born.
I did find the birth records for her mother, Carmella Chieffo in Terranova, which is now a part of sicignano. http://dl.antenati.san.beniculturali.it ... ewsIndex=0
So, that long rant leads me to my question for this forum. Does anyone have any suggestions of where else to look or search for this record? It is the only thing I am missing for my case. And is there anywhere else I could find the 1877-1880 sicignano birth records to see if Genoveffa was there? Lastly, if anyone else would be willing to look over the records linked above and tell me if I am missing any clues, I would be very grateful!
I have lots of other documents, such as ship manifests, census records, naturalization documents, and death records in the US for Michele and Genoveffa (and her two brothers), but every single document lists Calvanico as their birthplace. So there are no clues to be found here in the US.

Hi abt Sabato, by Salerno archive military draft cards, Sabato, baker, was born in Calvanico also on 28 Mar 1881
serie: Estrazione
comuneleva: Mercato San Severino

cognome: Gaudiano
nome: Sabata
paternità e maternità: Michele e Chietta Carmela

and because his name don't appears in the 1881 birth index, so maybe his birth was recorded after some year probably by judge order or similar case... abt Genoveffa by her arrival she coming from Calvanico... however for some strange reason don't appears in the births of calvanico...

Re: Help with a Salerno birth record that I cannot seem to locate
Ciao Saunj. Mille grazie! Thank you so much for your help. Is there any chance that if Genoveffa's birth doesn't appear in the Calvanico records in Antenati, it might exist somewhere else in the records of the municipality itself? Like if I contacted the commune di calvanico, is it possible that they would have the record?suanj wrote: 27 Sep 2021, 10:52 Hi abt Sabato, by Salerno archive military draft cards, Sabato, baker, was born in Calvanico also on 28 Mar 1881

And does comuneleva: Mercato San Severino mean that was where Sabato was living at the time of the draft? I found his brother Rocco as well.
serie: Estrazione
comuneleva: Mercato San Severino
progressivo: 298
leva: 1886
cognome: Gaudiano
nome: Rocco
paternità e maternità: Michele e Ieppo Carmela
nuovanascita: 25/10/1886
località di nascita: Calvanico
I found their father Michele in the draft records as well, but his birth record is also absent in the Calvanico records in antenati.
serie: Leva
comuneleva: Calvanico
progressivo: 7
leva: 1853
cognome: Gaudiano
nome: Michele
paternità e maternità: Sabato e Conforti Maria
nuovanascita: 10/09/1853
località di nascita: Calvanico
professione: bracciale
Do you have any other ideas for me in locating additional information about the family to find Genoveffa's birth record? It is very important for my 1948 case. Thanks!
