Mother's Surname Question for Maria Concetta De Luca

see it shown as Giovanna, but those initials ( Re ? ) in place of a Surname ??
does it mean her surname is same as husband Luiggi ??

have seen this on a few records.

"Re" (King) is a surname found in several parts of Italy. It is very likely her surname.

According to a family tree, there was a Giovanna Re born c.1846 in Malfa Salina, Messina, Sicilia, married to a Luigi DeLuca (1834-xxx) who had a son Giovanni DeLucca born in Santa Marina Salina in 1862 and died in Punxutawney, PA in 1918.

Mother is definitely Giovanna Re, legitimate wife of Luigi di Luca.
