I'm trying to figure out the paternal ancestors of Maddalena Cioffi but I'm having trouble translating/understanding her marriage certificate.
I believe the certificate says:
Maria Maddalena Cioffi daughter of the deceased Giuseppe Cioffi and Marianna Giglio.
I think the side of the first page says:
Maria Maddalena Cioffi of age 24, born in Maddaloni, living in Strada San Martino, eldest daughter of the deceased Giuseppe Cioffi and Marianna Giglio lived in Strada San Martino
She married Guiseppe Giudice November 10, 1823 at the parish of San Martino.
There are 2 witnesses to the weeding on the left side of first page:
Don Raffaele Cioffi (?) is this usually a relative of the wife
Michelle Giudice (groom’s side/father)
On the back of the marriage certificate says something like this:
"ignorant of the place of death and that of the last domicile of said paternal ancestor (grandfather?) Dominico Cioffi"
Thanks

I believe the certificate says:
Maria Maddalena Cioffi daughter of the deceased Giuseppe Cioffi and Marianna Giglio. YES
I think the side of the first page says:
Maria Maddalena Cioffi of age 24, born in Maddaloni, living in Strada San Martino, eldest daughter of the deceased Giuseppe Cioffi and Marianna Giglio lived in Strada San Martino figlia maggiore usually means she has reach the age of majority
She married Giuseppe Giudice November 10, 1823 at the parish of San Martino.
There are 2 witnesses to the CHURCH wedding on the right side of first page:
Don Raffaele Cioffi (?) is this usually a relative of the wife -
Michelle Giudice (groom’s side/father)
Usually the witnesses to the church celebration are relatives. The witnesses to the civil registration - the marriage act - are unrelated an just witnesses to the recording of the marriage.
On the back of the marriage certificate says something like this:
"ignorant of the place of death and that of the last domicile of said paternal ancestor (grandfather?) Dominico Cioffi" YES.

Re: Maddalena Cioffi
Thanks you so much...
So do you think I can conclude that Don Raffaele Cioffi was a living relative of Maddalena Cioffi present at the wedding likely related to Dominico Cioffi?

Re: Maddalena Cioffi
You are most welcome!
Yes, I think it is a good possibility that Don Raffaele Cioffi is related to the bride's father's side.
I have posted the link to the Processetti for you. See above edit...

Re: Maddalena Cioffi
Hello,
I have one last question about the signature of Don Raffaele Cioffi at the end of Maddalena Cioffi's marriage certificate. I see there is an abbreviation in front of his name "Ato D." (??) what does this mean? I'm assuming that the "D." stands for Don but I cannot find the meaning of the abbreviation in front "Ato" (??).
Thank you,
G. Cioffi
