Castelluccii caseli sancti severini?

Post by nick3371 »

Hello,

I am looking for the location of "Castelluccii caseli sancti severini". This record is from Panni, FG, so I'm assuming it's nearby. I think it is San Severo but was to confirm. Attached is the document.

Thank you!

That's great!
I think it's the village of of origin of my GGM.
It's Castelluccio, now hamlet of Castel San Giorgio, province of Salerno, but once it was part of (Mercato) San Severino, too.
My GGGM was an Apostolico!

Hi Pippom,

That is great to finally figure this out! A long way from Foggia. Have you had any success getting church records from this town?

I was at the Parish of San Biagio about ten years ago with a guy I know, who is from there, and the priest let me look into the registers.
Yet, the newest were of the end of the 1700's.
Also, the Stati delle Anime of 18th century must exist somewhere (at the Diocesan Archive in Salerno, I think), as a guy I met at the National Archives in Salerno sent me a few pictures about my ancestors.
That is on my to-do-list since then.
Is that the only record you have of Carmine Apostolico?

I have records of his son’s death. It list his name as Giuseppe instead of Carmine. I wonder if it was a mistake. The baptismal record I sent lists it as Carmine, which I believe is correct since it is earlier. I just emailed the diocesan archive. I hope to find a contact for the parish priest of San Biagio.

Did you write to the Diocesan Archive in Salerno?
I forgot to say that the Church is not in Castelluccio (where there's no Parish), but in Lanzara.
Are you a descendant of Carmine/Giuseppe?

Yes I am a descendent. I wrote to the diocesan archive in Salerno. I also tried writing to the parish in Lanzara but it didn’t send because I don’t have an Italian email. Do you have any contact information for the parish?

The parish has a page on Facebook, where you may send a message.

Hi Nick,
one more question.
If you can search the registers from Panni, couldn't you look for Giuseppe Apostolico's marriage to Anna Manzolillo? It might mention his parents.

I actually received the copy of the marriage yesterday. It confirms his name is Carmine Apostolico. Are you able to translate Latin? The handwriting is not the best.

Also, I heard back from the parish and the registers start in 1792. They are going to search the stato delle anime for Carmine.

The archive in Naples wasn’t able to find the catastro oniciaro for the family in Castelluccio.

Interesting that in the marriage record it says he is from Panni but in the birth of his son it says he is from Castelluccio. Maybe since it says he is a widower, he was married in Panni 1st and lived there for a time?
