TRANSLATION: Birth #4, 1892 - Ettore Aiudi

Post by hallsandgrants »

Greetings, I would like to get a narrative translation of "Atti di Nascita" record #4 for Ettore Aiudi from Isola Del Piano dated 1892. I am a newbie and a detailed translation of the entire document would be very helpful to me, to include the pre-printed portions (it will help me to read other documents in the future). For example, what are the two stamps with writing in the left margin related to marriages, and why are they stamped on this birth certificate?

Please see record #4 (page 7 of 48) in either the link below or image attachment below. If you cannot read the attached images then click on the link, scroll to record 4, and enlarge it. Grazie! Eric

Birth No 4: Ettore Aiudi

Registered Isola del Piano on 2 February 1892

Appearing before the official was Clito Aiudi, 27 yo, contadino, living in this town. He reported that at 3.15 pm, on 1 February 1892, in Vocobolo Guaralda, No 31, from Assunta Girolomoni, his wife, living with him, was born a baby of male sex who he did not present and gave the name Ettore.

The witnesses to the proceedings were Pio Ravagli, 47 yo, calzolaio (cobbler/shoemaker), and Annunziata Tontini, midwife.

The declarant once again was given a dispensation from presenting the baby due to the extreme distance from the place of the birth, after having ascertained the truth of his birth.

All those who were present at the registration signed the Act except for the declarant who was illiterate.

Side Notes:

On 17 February 21 marries in the town of Isola del Piano with Teodora Scarpellini, Act No 7.

On 5 September 1956 marries with Domenica Cangiotti in the town of Fossombrone, act no 51, Part II, serie A.

(On the next record it gives Annunziata Tontini’s age as 46, so she seems to have gained 20 years in a very short time?)

I thought that you might find the following sample of a post-1875 birth record which includes both Italian and Engish:
