#66 starts in the lower right of this page.

?----After both the child's (Giuseppe) and the father's (Pietro) surname (Passalaqua) is written what looks like Maggioso to me...'Major"...never seen this before & not sure what it means---subsequent children's birth/marriage records do not use that term.....???????what????why????

Thanks

Maggiore after Pietro's name indicates that he was of adult age (not a minor), age 36.
I do not see the word after the child's name. There is a "." after Giuseppe Passalaqua.

Usually this is used in marriage documents. Perhaps the clerk was having a lapse of concentration, or had been writing marriage records just prior to this document. :-)

Thanks Tessa!

If you look out to the side under the Act # , You'll see Giuseppe Passalaqua Maggioso/Maggiore? written out there---so maybe it was just a double spazz

I see it now. I agree with your assessment

BUT, that being said, Sicily is noted for its double surnames. Since you do not see it in any other records for the family it is probably not a double.
