Can I please have this record translated. Can it be fully translated. My great grandfather was in the States when this occured and I have never heard of this child until today. I found the death record in the Antenati website.

Registered in Orsogna on 1 September 1909

Appearing before the official was Giulia Polidoro, 40 yo, midwife, living in Orsogna, who reported that at 4 am, on 31 August, in the house in Frazione Campagna, No 301, from Maria Marzolino, a contadina, the wife of Raffaele Laerzio, a contadino, both living in Orsogna, was born a baby of male gender, who she presented to the official, and gave the name Rocco.

Witnesses to the presentation and registration were Alessandro Bello, 34 yo, contadino and Paolo de Grandis, 41 yo, contadino.

Then at the bottom it basically gives the reason why the declarant, who had assisted with the deliver of the baby, announced the aforementioned birth in place of the husband of Marzolino – it says that he was not able to because he was a long way from the town/country

Appearing were Raffaele Marzolino, 62 yo, and Vincenzo Mazza, 69 yo, both contadini living in Orsogna. They reported that at 1 am today, in the house in Corso Orientale, no number, Rocco Laerzio, 10 mths old died. He was born and residing in Orsogna, the son of Raffaele Laerzio and of Margherita Marzolino, both contadini, living in this town.

BTW John: I just had another look at the death record because I wanted to confirm the spelling of the second declarant's surname, and earlier when I looked at the record I hadn't noticed that the death record has been indexed. If you look just above the death record you will see that the names of both parents have been extracted. It doesn't seem to be so with the birth record though so maybe they are just at the beginning of indexing these Orsogna records. Anyways I thought I would mention it in case you hadn't noticed this yourself, because it may help you with further research.

Thank you very much Angela!!! I noticed the indexing of the names of my great grandparents. It made it so much easier to locate information. I hope that they can update the information on my paternal family from Reggio Calabria. There are still many things I wish to find out.
