Translate an old Will and Testament

Post by Ignazio_123 »

Hi there,

I have an old Will and Testament (attached) that I believe is Italian. I was wondering if there was someone who could help in translating it for me.

Thank you in advance.

Kind regards,
Troy

Yes, it's Italian. I can give you a summary of the content:

Made in Valletta, Isle of Malta,
25 August 1926

Ignazio Zammit , son of  Francesco Zammit,
modifies his preceding will as follows (the remaining part remaining valid) :
He orders that from his money at the
Sciclunas Bank   be taken two sums of   350  and   1000  pounds  and put in two accounts to be used to pay the studies of his descendant
Giovanni Sceberras [?] ;
the first sum to conclude his High school studies at the
Collegio San Luigi, the second to study at a University abroad  to the Degree in Medicine.

In case he will leave the studies without concluding the high school  or later the university,  or he'll decide to study in another field (not medicine)
the remaining sums will be given to the other descendants according to the other parts of the will.

Addition with the names of other members of the family (I understood so, you may compare with other sources of the tree, if you have it).

Giovanni Sceberras was son of  Giuseppe Sceberras  and  Maria Zammit.
Maria Zammit (deceased at time of the act ( 1926 )) was daughter of Giovanni  Maria Zammit, brother of Ignazio Zammit.
Ignazio Zammit was born at La Musta and resident in Birchircara.
