transcribe Diego di Marco record

Post by tblakely31 »

Birth Record-1- Diego Dimarco-1823.png
Birth Record-2-Diego Dimarco 1823.png
Could someone transcribe this Birth and Baptism record #2 for Diego di Marco. Is the birthdate 22 Jan 1823?
His parents are Giacomo di Marco and Carmela Vizinni. I see it says Carmela was domeciled in Montemaggiore. Does it state where Giacomo lived or was from? Also I can't read the letters for his profession. I'm trying to locate Diego's parents marriage record. I've looked in years 1820 to 1822 in Montemaggiore with no luck. Thinking they married in another area.
Thank you,
Tammy

Hi there, you really need to link us to the online record. When I blow the record you have supplied up it goes out of focus and not so easy to read. Ta.

Birth No 2: Diego di Marco

Registered in Montemaggiore on 3 January 1823

Appearing was Anna Frangiamore, 58 yo, levatrice (midwife), living in this town, Strada Varco. She presented a baby boy born from Carmela Vizzini, 22 yo, living in Montemaggiore, and from Giacomo di Marco, 22 yo, Giardiniero (gardiner), living therein. The baby was born 2 January 1823 in the house they lived in situated in Montemaggiore, Strada della Croce. The baby was given the name Diego. He was baptised on 3 January 1823 in the Church of S. Agata.

Just to answer your questions:

So from the above translation you will see that both Carmela and Giacomo were living in Montemaggiore. No it doesn’t state where Giacomo was from. He was a gardener. If you have looked in Montemaggiore and not been able to locate their marriage record, it’s possible that Carmela was born in another town. Generally the marriage takes place in the bride’s birth town, but the marriage banns are posted in both bride and grooms towns, so if you are certain that either bride or groom were born in Montemaggiore, then if the pubblications (banns) are available on line, search there first, and it will give you the information concerning their respective places of birth.

Diego was born on 2 January 1823. If you look at the record, seven lines up from the bottom (excluding the broken lines, you will see the words “nel giorno “due” del mese di” and that’s where you will find the day of birth in these particular records.

For baptism date go to the right hand column and about half way down you will see the words “nel giorno tre dell’indicato mese........” which is basically saying “on the day three of the month indicated....” so baptism was administer on 3 January.
