Translating birthday cards
Translating birthday cards
Is someone able to please translate these 2 cards for me? In case this is useful for context, I believe they were written by one of my great grandparents (Cosmo or Angelina) to their daughter Betty.
Re: Translating birthday cards
apersico, it is hard to translate because it is wrote by a mix of dialect and italian and with errors also.. however from what I read and understood, the mother write to her daughter:
she has many sweet words of love for her and remembers when she was little girl. She says it is her joy of hers. She says that she is fine but her husband has pain in his arm, and hopes that the daughter does not think of anything wrong, that they are happy and cheerful and eat well, and says that they are going through the winter
(vernata = wintering, that is winter that passes) and they cannot go out neither for business nor for a walk, and she hopes that spring will arrive soon and she hopes that they can be seen again. And that she and her husband want her son-in-law to keep her happy all the time. And she says that she seems to her that she hasn't seen her dear children for a thousand years. She then kisses and hugs Paul and Toni, and to her daughter she says never get discouraged in life.
