Could someone help with translating the birth record of Catterina Guidotti from 1880 in Gaggio Montano.
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903 ... cc=1947797
Her mother Catterina died this same year, so I am curious if perhaps it was child birth related and if the child was born alive.

(Caterina Castelli, who passed away on Feb 15th, 1880. She was 21 and a housewife, born in Lizzano Belvedere, daughter of deceased Pietro, and Domenica Cheli, and Andrea Guidotti's wife)
Thank you,

Translating Birth Record - Catterina Guidotti
Re: Translating Birth Record - Catterina Guidotti
Birth and death on same day - 15 February 1880.
Catterina Guidotti born on 15 February to Andrea Guidotti (28, landowner)and Catterina Castelli, his wife.
Catterina Castelli died on 15 February - age 21 - wife of Andrea Guidotti.
Likely Andrea's wife died in childbirth, and he named the child after the mother.

Re: Translating Birth Record - Catterina Guidotti
Thank you Tessa.
Would it have been common in this time with a young wife passing away for them to marry another family member on the wife's side. At the time of her passing they would have had 3 young girls (one being the newborn) from what I discovered last night.
I see that Catterina Castelli's mother was Domenica Cheli, Andrea got re-married eventually to my 3x great-grandmother Marianna Cheli. They had 4 children before actually getting married. Marianna's father was Domenico Cheli, which I I'm now thinking was Catterina's uncle and that Andrea married Catterina's cousin.
I believe I found Domenica's death record, I was trying to confirm do the parents match with Domenico's? (trying to be sure as Cheli appears to be a fairly common surname).

(Previous Translation: Death No 130: Domenico Cheli
Registered on 15 November 1891, Lizzano in Belvedere
Reporting the death were Pietro Orlandini, 55 yo, Muratore (mason/bricklayer), and Domenico Cheli, 58 yo, agricoltore (farmer), both living in Lizzano. They reported that at 7 am, today (15 Nov 1891), Domenico Cheli died in the house in Lizzano, No 177. He was 73 yo, agricoltore, born and residing in Lizzano, the son of the deceased Sebastiano (Cheili) and the deceased Catterina Carpani, who had both lived in Lizzano when living. He was the widower of Pasqua Taglioli.)
Thanks,
D.

Re: Translating Birth Record - Catterina Guidotti
Yes, it was not uncommon for a widow/widower to marry a relative. In many of these small towns most people were somewhat related.
Domenica Cheli (mother of Catterina Castelli) and Domenico Cheli (father of Marianna Cheli) had the same parents: deceased Sebastiano Cheli, and deceased Catterina Carpani.
I have seen widowers marrying the sisters of their deceased spouses. Especially when young children need to be cared for.
Note: Domenica Cheli appears to have remarried after the death of her husband Castelli. At her death in 1900, she is the widow of Parisse Ciani.

Re: Translating Birth Record - Catterina Guidotti
Thank you Tessa. Really interesting how culturally things were in this time period.
Thanks for putting the spouses name, I could not make out that last name!
I found their wedding publication from 1885, there is much writing at the bottom. I think I'm making out that her original spouse (Catterina's father) was Pietro Casselli ?

Yes, it states her deceased husband, Pietro Castelli (with a "t") died 13 April 1871.
