translating section of 1895 marriage record

Post by nrepole »

Hi everyone

Would love for a translation of end portion of my great grandparent's wedding record from
1895 (Rapone, Potenza, Basilicata). I also have a question regarding the wedding date:
It appears that they married at 4pm on 24 April 1895 - which was a Wednesday???
Is that right? Was it common for couples to marry on weekdays?

Kind regards
Nick

It says that the banns were posted on Mar 24th, and Mar 31st.
Also, bride's parents were present at the marriage, and gave their consent.
The act was signed by bride's father an by the witnesses, as all the others were illiterate.

And yes, it wasn't unusual to get married on working days, as there were no such parties as nowadays.

Even with the modern parties, it still happens. I attended one in Sicily last fall on Wednesday, September 15. There was a 4 p.m. wedding and a reception that lasted until about 6 a.m.!
