Murder or Murdered?

Post by barbieave92 »

I am posting a link to the first of three pages of a document regarding the father of GioBatt Tomeo, Giovanni Tomeo. I don't want anyone to translate the entire document, I can make out most of what it means, but I want to be sure of the accuracy, specifically on the second page halfway down where it talks of (correct me if wrong please) of being sentenced to life for murder....but I can't be sure if it is saying Giovanni Tomeo was murdered or if he was the one who committed the crime. I deeply appreciate any help! Thanks!

abstract:
the first page is a reply from Royal Judge in Cicciano on 23 Feb 1818, reply to a letter (I don't know the sender, it is wrote just Signore=Mister, Lord) of 13 feb 1818, and the judge wrote that by deed of notoriety, everything was regularly performed.
Second page, the notary in presence of witnesses , stated that on year 1900, the Giovanni Tomeo, proprietor of Roccarainola, he was charged with the murder of two sisters, Celidea (no sure abt spelling) and Gesualda Tomeo. Then he was arrested and sentenced to life imprisonment and sent to the prisons in the island of Ponza, of which there was no further news.
Indeed it is said among the inhabitants of Roccarainola, from long time, that he died on the island of Ponza, news that was believed to be true and is believed to be true, knowing no other news. All of this is written up in this deed, and after reading it to the witnesses they claim to have understood the text well.
The names of three other witnesses follow, and all confirm and sign the deed, except one, sheperd, who does not sign it, because he is illiterate.

sorry: 1800 just a typo.

Giovanni killed two Tomeo sisters, so he was sent in the jail of Ponza's island for life imprisonement.. Normally the prisoners they survived very few years in prisons..
