Sorry I have not been active for a while. Still working on my tree. Not making much headway. I am trying to find out what my great grand mother's madden name was. I know she was married to Domenico Carella and that her first name could have been Concetta. Other trees on Ancestry show her last name as Annalora but I do not think that is correct. I have some documents that show her name as Perniciari or Perniciaro. My grand mother Francesca Carella's ( DiMaggio)marriage information shows her name as Perniciari. My grand mother and grand father were married in New York in 1917.
Thank you in advance for your help and any information would be helpful.

Tom,

I have some Ania/Enea Palermo ancestors, why not shoot me a PM. I cannot focus on this family history right now, but filed away for some future...

Re: Great grand mother's madden name
Again I am sorry for taking so long to say thanks you. The information you found has been a big help. She must have had a brother also named Domenico as well as her father. I would still like to know when her father came to the US and what became of him.
Thanks again for your help

Re: Great grand mother's madden name
Tom,
Is it not already established that your grandmother Francesca Carella has both a father and a brother named Domenico Carella?
In case you don't have your grandparents marriage:
https://a860-historicalvitalrecords.nyc ... ew/8974355
A 53-year old Domenico Carello arrived at Ellis Island aboard the Canada on February 21, 1913
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903 ... 3AJNYL-NY3
A suspicious (to me) pencil mark on the manifest makes ambiguous whether he was married or widowed. His destination was to son Domenico on 120th Street in Brooklyn. I'm not the ultimate Brooklyn geographer, but I don't think the street numbers go that high, at least not according to GoogleMaps in 2023. But forgiving a plausible miscommunication, things seem to fit. But then it gets weird - the contact person he left behind in Palermo is "wife Ninfa Cardile"! Which is the name of the mother of Antonia Enea, in other words, Domenico Jr's mother-in-law.
I'll leave it to you or others to thrash out USA census, etc. records to connect dots and check if it's the right guy. I found no additional trace in the NYC vital documents stash.
Meanwhile back in Palermo, Domenico Carella was born in 1857 to [Francesco Carella & Francesca Donato]; there is at least one brother, Paolo; perhaps more siblings to be found. The Perniciaro lineage can be pushed back at least 2 more generations; two sisters of Maria Concetta can be found. Domenico and Maria Concetta married in 1879.
A completely different Domenico Carella of Palermo was married to Concetta Annalora; his parents were [Alessandro Carella & Rosa Amorello].
I haven't got time to provide links, chapter and verse for all of this, perhaps others on the forum might pick up some of the threads (and there are some loose doozies). Or maybe you will want to learn to comb through the records yourself. Shoot me a PM.

Re: Great grand mother's madden name
Thanks again for the help. You are correct about loose ends I do know she had a brother Gaspar who was shot in NY. in 1920 and the death record shows another brother Francesco, and I know she had a sister that was a nun Sister Anna Marie but I do not know the order she was in. She came for a visit to the US and then returned home. I still do not know what happen to her father Domenico. I do not know if he stayed in the US or returned to Sicily. Anyway thanks again for the help and I will keep digging.
