Question on Marriage Record Attachments

Questions on 1853 Marriage Record Attachments.

Maria Palumbo
850 di 964 • pag. 850 thru 1860

https://antenati.cultura.gov.it/ark:/12 ... 38/LD8bN4E

We see that Maria was a Widow, and her late Husband was Salvatore Pilato (Lo Pilato),his death document page 856 shows age 40, location in Campofranco, Caltanissetta.

Is there any information in these 10 pages that notes a Salvatore Pilato (Lo Pilato) marriage day/year to Maria ??

We searched in Campofranco, Caltanissetta records and could not fina a marriage record.

On Maria's 1853 Church Marriage to Sigismondo Trapani/ we see Salvatore Pilato (Lo Pilato) widower named there.

No-the record for her previous marriage to Salvatore is not with this marriage package. Only his death record, as you already know. This marriage record group contains the supporting documents for her remarriage. It was sufficient for her to prove the death of her previous spouse by providing a copy of his death record, which also proved that, in accordance with the civil law, her previous spouse had been deceased a minimum of ten months before her remarriage.

Thank you Angela, we did not go back that far in checking (only went to 1840).

On Salvatore Pilato's death record it shows a Benedetto di Fonto ? as his Father married to Gaetana Mattina.
Have to look into that, she may have remarried. ?

Death Record_____9 of 39 • p. 9

This is what I am reading and understanding from Salvatore Pilato's death record:

The 1852 Death Record of Salvatore lo Pilato states that his parents were Benedetto (lo Pilato) who was deceased (difunto but written di fonto) and Gaetana Mattina.

The 1835 marriage record states Salvatore’s parents were Benedetto (lo Pilato) and Gaetana Mattina.

So both Death and Marriage records concur. Does this help? Let me know if you would like any of the records translated and I can do so later.

Thank you Angela, just found Benedetto Pilato death record, 10 NOV 1848 • Campofranco, Caltanissetta, Sicilia, Italy
, so Gaetana Mattina must have re-married to a Benedetto di Fanto ( now checking for that marriage )

No. 70__38 di 52 • pag. 38
https://antenati.cultura.gov.it/ark:/12 ... 87/5gXERPz

Now we believe the document writter had used a version of defunto (di fonto) = (deceased person). next to Benedetto's name on Salvatore's death recors, notice also on Benedetto's 1848 death link for on his parents it shows d' fonto for father and d'fonta by mothers name.

So, guess dont' need to search for that re- marriage misunderstanding for Gaetana.
