Carpitello

Post by darkerhorse »

Record 17

The mother of the deceased is listed here as Natala Carpitello Milone.

In all other records she is simply listed as Natala Milone.

Is Carpitello another surname or does it mean something else?

It looks like it might read Natala Carpitello e Milone.
That would be an old use in Sicily of specifying the surnames of both parents. So, it's possible that her mother's surname was Carpitello.

Thanks.

I did find Carpitello as a (rare) surname, not in her town but at least on the island.
