I'm reading Sansevero, Foggia.

I'll look for the original death record to verify.

Here he is in the San Severo Index, No 603, but I can’t find the record at the minute. Will take another look in a minute. https://antenati.cultura.gov.it/ark:/12 ... 64/57rQ3eO

Here’s the original death record that was registered in San Severo, Foggia: https://antenati.cultura.gov.it/ark:/12 ... 64/wQxl2Dq

It was actually an easy find but for some reason I'd clicked on the wrong link. Let us know if you need it translated.

in the church record, the province is listed as Capitanata-which is Foggia

just to add-

The northern area of the Puglia region that borders Molise and Campania is known as the Foggia province. This region was known as Capitanata until 1860 when the name was changed, and included parts of Campania.

You are very welcome for the help. I just want to clarify something. I don't see any church record there. I'm not sure what Erudita is referring to. The record you posted, I'm guessing was a Death Extract (a civil record) which you possibily found amongst allegati? It is a hand written copy of the Civil Death Record that I located for you which I found in San Severo, Foggia. Both these civil records, the extract and original, refer to Capitanata. (Much clearer in the original record.) It's great that Erudita has explained the history.

Angela is correct. There is no church record posted here. It is a handwritten extract of the civil record. I can only blame being overly tired for typing the word church before the word record. Didn't even realize I had done so. Thanks, Angela. Also glad I found some historical info related to the province name.
