1827 Death Record - Pietro Magazu

Post by mjclayton1 »

Hello, Forum-

Just wondering if anyone can tell me if they think the surname of the decedent's mother is "Pisa" or Pino"? The latter surname is far, far more prevalent in Saponara, although I seem to recall having seen "Pisa" before - if only on a rare occasion... or maybe I'm mis-remembering! To me, it looks 95% like "Pisa", but I'm still not 100% sure. Oh, and then there's also the profession of Pietro...

Record No. 54
Date: 7 Dec 1827
Comune of Saponara, District of Messina, Valle de Elsa
Decedent: Pietro Magazu, age 69, born in Saponara, spouse of (living) Giuseppa Salvo
Profession: locksmith???
Son of deceased Antonino and Flavia Pisa/Pino?

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Mark

I am reading Pietro's wife's surname to be Pisa and I'm wondering whether her given name was Floria not Flavia. I'm reading Floria. She was also deceased.

I also think Pietro Magazù's mother was Floria Pisa.

Hi, Angela and mmogno. Thanks for your feedback here. Interesting on the "Floria" dialog. It's not a name I've regularly come across, yet I otherwise have several "Flavia's" in my Ancestry tree (Venuto, Ruggeri, Giordano, Salvo, etc.). I will keep this under (keen) advisement! :-)

One more thing...

mmogno, you attached a link to the 1827 Saponara INDICE from the Antenati site. I use the site quite often myself, but I don't understand why I don't have the same link (access to the INDEX)? See below...

As you can see, the year 1827 (Morti) is split up into two sections, BOTH OF WHICH do not have the indice that you gave me. Not sure why I don't have/see that???

Thanks again.

The index of deaths in 1827 is in a separate register from that of deaths

Registro: 1827
Morti, indice
Stato civile della restaurazione > Saponara

Hi. I figured that, but didn't know/realize what I was missing. I have since found it. Under the Tipologia heading there's an "Espandi (2)" option, one of which is the 1827 Indice at issue here (the only Morti Indice for the entire comune). That's what I had missed.

Thanks again.
