Vena Di Maida
Does anyone know how to go about getting records for Vena Di Maida? Is there a genealogist who is familiar with that area and could help? I am looking for surnames of Assisi, Juliano or Giuliano.
Re: Vena Di Maida
Vena di Maida is a Hamlet/village of the comune of Maida in Catanzaro Province.
There are limited records at the Antenati site (deaths from 1837 through 1860)
https://antenati.cultura.gov.it/search- ... lita=Maida
Can we help you find any specific ancestors?
For example in the 1860 death acts is a 5 day old child named Francesco Giuliano, son of Francesco Giuliano, a farmer, and of Angela Dattilo (his wife)

I am specifically looking for my Great-Grandfather, Francesco Maria Assisi, B. Sometime in 1862, in Girifalco and his two sons, Giuseppe, Born July 20, 1895 in Girifalco and his brother, Lorenzo Rafaela Antonio Assisi, Born in 1908 possibly in the US. I know that Francesco was married first to a Caterina Scicchitano who died in 1900 in Girifalco. He then moved to Vena with Giuseppe and married Mariangelo Juliano before coming to the United States. Francesco also had a daughter, Mary who was born in 1910 that came to Vena in 1816 to live with her grandmother, a Juliano (Giuliano). I believed Lorenzo was with her as well. Giuseppe served in the Italian Army WW1 so I am wondering how to get his military records and Lorenzo’s to see if they could help. I would appreciate any suggestions on how to find out more information. Beth

Your dedication to tracing your family history is commendable, Beth. It's fascinating to see how you're piecing together the puzzle of your ancestors' lives and their journey from Italy to the United States. Wishing you the best of luck in uncovering more information about Francesco, Giuseppe, Lorenzo, and the rest of your family tree!
