Spinosa Family History from Sulmona Abruzzo.

Post by Gianluca Gualtieri »

Hello, I am trying to help out some family that is not directly related to me from Sulmona so I don't know a lot of details but hopefully I can find something new.

First off as I mentioned the town is called Sulmona in Abruzzo. His grandfather's name is Sabatino Spinosa born November 19 1925 - Aug 13 1993 married to a surname Dicenzo (who is currently living). Sabatino had a very complicated story that I don't know the details but in the end he moved to Venezuela and started a whole new family (so any information about that would be great). His father's is named Anthony Spinosa married to Rosa Ventresca. The children they had were Sabatino, Domenico, Marietta, Luigi, Francesco. Carolina (idk about the spelling for her) Spinosa.

On the Dicenzo side his grandmother who is living parents were Domenico Dicenzo Apr 271895- November 27 1983 married to Angelina ??? born Aug 12 1901 - Novemeber 12 1994

Thanks! :D :D

Unfortunately only records from 1809 to 1865 are present online for Sulmona.
Also, the surname you’re referring to should be Di Censo and not Dicenzo.

Has the family found any acts at all?
Anything to share?

You could find military details (liste di leva/ruoli matricolari) of the male ancestors by contacting the Archivio di Stato dell’Aquila but more details are needed.

Or you could contact the municipality directly if you need to.

Ah okay no worries. No I don't think they know anything really about it (acts). I might try checking that out. But on the other hand the surname DiCenzo is not from Sulmona but from Bugnara could you try looking at there records maybe. With the people I previously mentioned

Also if you wouldn't mind looking you records from Introdaqua are available. I have the surname Colasante and Leombruno from there.

Thanks

A birth index taken at random from the Bugnara registers confirms that the surname is Di Censo.
See #30 and #82.

Also from a marriage index. See #2

Also for Bugnara and Introdacqua are only available registers from 1865 backwards.

It was perfectly normal to distort some surnames along the way…….
