Help Translating death record
Help Translating death record
Hello could someone help with the translation of the death record of Leonardo Trentacosti. His father is Antonino and his wife was Arcangela (her last name is unknown, but I think it maybe listed in this record. )

Re: Help Translating death record
Day 24 (Jun, 1759)
Master Leonardo Trentacosti, son of deceased Master Antonino, "ferrarius et orologiarius" (I'd say, smith, and clock maker/repairer) very skilled in both arts, husband of Arcangela Imbordino.
There's an interesting story following about how he died, and I'll try to understand and translate it when I have more time.

Re: Help Translating death record
Thanks Pippo, it will be very interesting to hear an cause of death / story surrounding. I think the most exciting I've had so far is hearing that they were buried by the gate. One other question the line after his wife's name it almost looks like it says " 4 or 5" then what I think is 40 with a line underneath it. Is that them not knowing the age and saying they think he's 40 or 50?

That's it! I think they estimate based on their experience.deigo1 wrote: 13 Aug 2024, 23:56 Thanks Pippo, it will be very interesting to hear an cause of death / story surrounding. No
aetatis suae annorum 4or sa 40 circiter = aetatis suae annorum quattuor supra 40 circiter = aged about 44 years

Thanks so much!
Do you think this could be Lenardo's Baptism?
Index - 2nd one down on left side #35.... It looks like it says Joseph Leonardo and another name ????
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903 ... cc=2046915
The actual record (2nd one down right side - writing is light, but it looks like the index has the names reversed..
is it Leonardo Antonino (another name??) Joseph ?
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903 ... cc=2046915
Leonardo would make the most sense as it would have been the paternal grandfather's name, and I haven't been able to find another male child.

The index- the infant is Giuseppe Leonardo Pasquale (Trentacosti). Parents Maestri* (title) Antonino and Anna.
The second link does not take you to the record.
I can’t read the folio # in the index.

While I see Antonio’s name in the record, I don’t see any of the names for the child found in the index. I’m sorry, but I’m still not convinced the link is for the record that matches the index. Also, I noticed that a lot of these records are for infants who were in imminent danger of dying. The same midwife’s name also appears in a number of those records, although she doesn’t appear to be godmother to those infants. Her name is not in this particular record though. Hopefully Pippo or mmogno will have better luck with this one.

Re: Help Translating death record
Thanks again for looking at this, something is off with index and record.
I blew this up a bit on the screen to show what I was looking at name wise in the record and why I thought perhaps someone had written it down out of order in the index...I could be completely off and it could be unrelated
Thanks!

I saw that in the index. The parents of Ignazio Antonino La Porta were Maestro* Antonino and Oliva LaPorta. Joseph’s surname is Caruso. I can’t read what is after
Ignazio Antonino and before Joseph Caruso. It is not the name Pasquale. Even though I see the name Antonino Trentacosti in this record, I don’t see the name of a wife nor the child’s name. I can’t tell why his name appears there at all.
Count 3 up from this in the index and you get Maestro* Antonino and Anna Trentacosti. Son Giuseppe Leonardo Pasquale Trentacosti.
The problem with the record is that it looks like there are two different records, for 2 unrelated infants, with different sets of godparents, together in what appears to be a single record.
Almost directly across from this record though is the record for a child of Antonino and Martha Salerno. In the index, that is the one directly under the listing for the child of Antonino Trentacosti and Anna, (Giuseppe Leonardo Pasquale Trentacosti), but the record is not there. I went page by page looking for it, but couldn’t find it.
Pippo or mmogno may have better luck figuring out this record. Sorry.
