Hi,
I'm looking for help in finding what commune my great grandfather Francesco Sabella immigrated from. Census records have him being born in 1867-1870, and immigrating around 1890. He married Angelina Gatto in Philadelphia in 1895. The marriage records list Italy as his place of birth. Sometime between then and 1900, he moved to Gloucester County NJ and remained there all his life. He had 9 children and died in 1918. I received a copy of his death certificate, and it lists James Sabella and Catherine Pucci as his parents. It also lists his place of birth as Italy.
I have been searching relentlessly, and can't find any other info for a place of birth. If someone could help me, I would be so very appreciative.
Grazie Mille!

Hello,
Is this your family tree?

Did you manage to narrow down their immigration date? To which port?
I suppose that they migrated separately and met in the States. Is this right?

Re: Surname Sabella
Hello,
Yes, that is my family tree. I cannot find any definitive immigration records for him. There are a couple of records that have Francesco Sabella listed and nothing else. So I can't tie them to him by other relatives, address, or anything. So it could be the record of someone else with the same name.
I assume he met his wife in the US because the marriage license application says they lived in the same house. Angelina Gatto's father had to sign a document permitting his daughter to marry because she was only 16. Her father was also living at that address, so I assume that Francesco was a boarder, and so was his wife (Angelina) and her family.
