Can you post the records you have for him in USA?
Perhaps we can trace back to locate a place of birth in Italy... which is necessary to locate a birth act. You need to know the EXACT town of birth because that is where the records are held.

Here is a 1900 US Census for Benedict and his family.
They are living with Josephine's (Giuseppina's) father "Dick" Culotta and family.
It appears that 2 of Benedict and Josephine's children were born in Italy in 1887 and 1888 before arrival in 1890. Possibly, we can find records on them to indicate where they were born...leading to birthplace of Benedict "Demarco" (as it is spelled here.

Dick Culotta is another path we might search as well.



EDIT TO ADD:

According to the above 1900 US Census, Dick Culotta was born February 1839.
I found a POSSIBLE birth act for him in Cefalu' (Sicily) in February 1839. Father is Salvadore Culotta (a sailor) and mother is Giuseppa Maria Noto. This seems to fit with the names of their children Salvatore and Giuseppina (who married with Benedetto Dimacco.

Hold on to this - we need to verify. But if it is correct... it is likely that Benedetto also came from Sicily.

If he was 89yo. in December 1952 he would have been born in 1863 and not in 1866.

Here we are. He was born in Borgo di Gaeta on 22 January 1863.
Parents are Mattia Di Macco and Angela Masiello.
He was named Benedetto Francesco.

Unfortunately records post 1865 for Borgo di Gaeta and Gaeta are not online.

Here’s Mattia Di Macco, 30yo and Angelina Masiello, 19yo marriage in Borgo di Gaeta
on 14 September 1858.
Mattia’s parents are Giuseppe and Maria D’Ovidio (deceased).
Angelina’s parents are Damiano and Maria Arpante.

Curious about the marriage of Benedetto Di Macco and Giuseppina Culotta

I think that the marriage between Benedetto and Giuseppina is to be found in Louisiana where their daughter Angelina was born.
On the 1900 manifest it states that Benedetto first arrived in 1889 and Giuseppina in 1891, probably with her mother. They have been married for 7 years, so that puts the wedding date around 1893
It also states that they have 3 living children,
Obviously the one in June 1900 wasn’t their first trip to the States as Dick has been a US resident for 20 years. Perhaps on this occasion they are returning from a family gathering in Italy but the family is not complete as some members did not travel with them apparently.
The other two grandsons named Lessi Frank and Lena, Italian born, should be from a marriage between a Mr. Lessi and another Dick’s daughter.

There is also a possibility that Frank and Lena could even be Giuseppina’s sons from a previous marriage.
On the manifest it says that Giuseppina has 3 living sons but it doesn’t state how many Benedetto has.

And according to the same manifest, Dick’s wife only has 2 living sons and they’re both on the ship.
So apparently there’s no other daughter.


Edit to add:

On the obituary it says than Benedetto was the step father of Frank Alessi.
So it’s confirmed, Giuseppina was previously married, most probably in Italy.
