Re: Forti Family from Reggio Calabria
Thank you so much for the information. I did not realize that Gallina was part of Reggio Calabria and should help me narrow my search.
I did have the knowledge of these documents on my GGM, Francesca, however, my GGF has been the allusive one. On his alien registration form, he noted his first entry into the US as 1907 via boat mariner, but then also noted 1909. If he in fact is related to Felice De Lorenzo then Felice entered the US in 1908 to visit his cousin, Frank Forti and was from Reggio Calabria. I have not been able to identify the ship manifest for Frank yet.
Thank you so very much for all of your help! It's been greatly appreciated!

Re: Forti Family from Reggio Calabria
Hi All! I finally received my GGP's marriage record with my GGF's parents listed! I was provided a couple of possible birth certificates above, but cannot decipher the italian record to determine if it belong to my GGF, Francesco. If it's not his, is anyone able to help find it? In his marriage license it notes that he is 30 years old in December 1913, making him born 1883 most likely. It appears he may have been widowed as well according to the license. I can post a photo if allowed.
Can anyone help? Any and all help is greatly appreciated! Thank you!!

I have read the FAQ and cannot figure out how to attach the image or document.

Any luck?
Re: Forti Family from Reggio Calabria
Yes, I was able to look at the record.
Frank's parents are John and Graccia - so Giovanni and Grazia.
Unfortunately, none of the birth acts above fit.
Francesca's parents are Frank and Maria - so Francesco and Maria.
This appears to fit her arrival manifest (father)

I believe I may have found Francesco's birth record, just many years earlier.

I am not able to read or translate any of it though.

This looks good...
But notice the spelling of the surname - no "r"
Birth act of Francesco Foti in Campo on 10 August 1874.
#45
Father: Giovanni Foti, 30, laborer, son of Francesco
Mother: Grazia Calabro', 32, spinner, his wife
Child given the name Francesco.

I believe the spelling of his last name changed when he immigrated. The parents and the commune match his records, just not the birth year.
