Requesting help to help my tree for one relative

Post by BriHargan »

My tree I found my great grandpas sibling, Rosa di Maria born may 24th 1896, to parents Michele di Maria and Maria Giuseppa Cerrone in Santa Croce del Sannio, Benevento Italy. However I found another Rosa Di Maria (spelled de Maria) born February 26th, 1901 to same parents names Michele Di Maria and Maria Cerrone. I just wanted confirmation that’s the same family and that the first Rosa born in 1896 then passed away young and they named their next daughter Rosa again? I don’t see the actual documents and can’t read Italian. Thank you! 😊

Yes, same parents and same address, via Colleamaro.
In both cases, birth were declared by the same midwife, Maria Giampetruzzi because Michele, the father, was away from home.

Usually if a second child is named like a previously born one it’s because the first one passed away, as you rightly thought.
Unfortunately, as you know, we cannot double check on this because the death records for those years are not online.

These are the two birth acts:
First Rosa 1896:

Second Rosa 1901:
