Translation - Testagrossa/Marino

Post by Road2Gandolfo »

Hello, Hope everyone has been doing well. I am having several issues translating the records below.

Vincenzo Testagrossa reported a son, Francesco, born 6 August 1897 in Marsala. If I am translating correctly the mother was not named because the child was illegitimate.

Record: 1187
https://antenati.cultura.gov.it/ark:/12 ... 87/wOWaOzd

I then found a marriage record for Vincenzo Testagrossa and Maria Marino dated 28 Apr 1898. If I am translating correctly it is stating that Vincenzo Testagrossa is the widow of Giuseppa Marino and Francesco is the legitimate son of Vincenzo Testagrossa and Maria Marino? Is that correct? I am unable to locate the pubblication

Record: 182
https://antenati.cultura.gov.it/ark:/12 ... 59/5vJ2ygk

Based on what I found above I tried to locate the death record for Vincenzo's first wife, Giuseppa Marino. I was able to locate her in part 2 of the death index in Marsala in 1897 but cannot locate the actual death record. I did locate the morte allegati but am unable to translate enough to determine her date of death. Can someone confirm her parents last name on the index and her date and place of death on the allegati?

Death index: Giuseppa Marino, part 2, page 154, record 77

Hello,

What you found in the allegati regarding Giuseppa Marino is the rectification of her death record because the surname of her husband was written incorrectly.
She died on 18 July 1895 in via Cannata 227, Marsala. She was 20yo.
Parents were Antonino and Caterina Montalto.
This is her original death act. #716:

The side annotation is about the rectification.

That’s correct yes.
Vincenzo married Giuseppa’s sister and then they legitimised their son Francesco born previously when they married.
