Menotti Di Giacomantonio
Menotti Di Giacomantonio
My father, Menotti Di Giacomantonio was born in 1919 to Pietro and Anna Antonia Sonsini in Castiglione a Casauria. I am wondering if anyone has any information about this family. In particular, I understand that my father married by proxy, likely between 1948 when he immigrated to Canada and 1965/1966 when he met my mother. I have been unable to find out any information about this marriage and the subsequent divorce which likely occurred when he returned to Italy in 1970. I am also curious about his father, Pietro, who moved back and forth between North America and Italy, at times settling in Montreal and at other times settling in Boston. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Menotti Di Giacomantonio
Thank you to both of you for the information. Farassino, I found it interesting that my nonna was married in her home due to injuries to her feet. I had not been aware of that piece. Tessa, yes my father accompanied his mother back to Italy in 1953 as she was quite ill and in a wheelchair at the time. My father did not meet my mother until he was in his mid 40s so it was likely he was still a confirmed bachelor in 1953. There is a rumour that he had been briefly married prior to meeting my mother but there is no documentation to that effect.
