This weekend I am asking for a Father's Day gift for myself (and my family). If anyone can help me to break through a brick wall in my patrilineal line, it would be greatly appreciated.

My father is Marion Jasay, born in Arkansas in 1924. His father is Luigi Favazza, born in Alessandia della Rocca, Sicily, in 1879. Luigi's atto di nascita shows his father as Gaetano Favazza. Gaetano was 31 years old at the time, meaning he was born around 1847/1848.

I do not know when or where Gaetano and Antonia were married. I do not know where Gaetano was born or the names of his parents. Antonia's family has been in Alessandria for 300 years, but that may not be the case for the Favazza family.

Does anyone have any clues about this Gaetano Favazza's early life or parents?

1) Could you share the atto for Luigi when you get the chance?

2) Do you know where Luigi was married? If he was married in Italy, you could obtain his marriage processetti which could give you a birth or death record for Gaetano. If Luigi was married in Alessandia della Rocca, Sicily, the processetti is likely available online for free!

3) Did you try looking for either the marriage or death record of Gaetano in Alessandia della Rocca, Sicily?

Hoping you find what you're looking for! I've been trying to go back in my paternal lineage for years without any luck - so I know the feeling!

On 7 April 1878 in Alessandria della Rocca marriage of Gaetano Favazza (born in Palermo to Luigi and Giuseppa Biondo, both deceased, from Palermo) to Antonina La Cortiosi (daughter of Antonino and Maria Giuseppa Testasecca, both deceased).

Antonia's family has been in Alessandria for 300 years, but that may not be the case for the Favazza family.
