Greetings,
I am seeking help regarding Francesco LaStarza. From his naturalization papers he was born on 27 Dec 1876 in Montcelli, Italy. He arrived in New York on 23 Apr 1893. He was naturalized on 28 Nov 1902 in Providence, Rhode Island. He was married in Providence, Rhode Island on 6 Dec 1902 to Angela (Angelina) Macari. Francesco's father was Giovanni and his mother was Sabiense.
Where is Montcelli or is this a misspelling? Also where might I find actual records for any of the above mentioned people?
Thank you very much! DeMari

Re: Researching Francesco LaStarza
The correct spelling might be Monticelli.
There are several in Italy:
Monticelli d'Ongina, province of Piacenza
Monticelli Brusati, province of Brescia
Monticelli Pavese, province of Pavia
Monticelli Terme, hamlet of Montechiarugolo, province of Parma
Monticelli, hamlet of Esperia, province of Frosinone
and there might be more...
Update: I forgot there's one near me, hamlet of Mercato San Severino.
Surname "La Starza" sound southern, and, according to cognomix.it, there are still some in Esperia.
Maybe that's where Francesco was from.

Re: Researching Francesco LaStarza
I've found one Francesco La Starza, about the same age, from Castelforte, province of Latina.
I see there's a hamlet named Monticelli there, too.
And Castelforte is the town with the most La Starza's in Italy!

Some registers are online here:
https://www.familysearch.org/it/search/ ... oha:128577
Unfortunately, some are missing, and what is worse, it seems they were "reconstructed" in 1952, maybe because they were destroyed during WW2. That means that only those who were interestedm requested to be recorded in the registers. As Francesco was abroad, he probably wasn't interested.
