Tracing my Italian family

Post by Mystress »

I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction about finding information about two family surnames.
1.Schiavuzzi and 2.Pipan

These are my grandparents and I would like to know more about this side of my family I have no idea about.

Amelia (known as Lia) Schiavuzzi as far as I know she was born in Trieste
05.01.1923 and died in Australia 06.06.1975.
Moreno Pipan was born in Trieste 05.07.1918 and died in Australia 29.12.2005.

I know they were married in Italy and there were weird circumstances to that,I was told seeing that her Father had died three days prior to their wedding date (08.08.1946),that they had to partition to the Pope and have his permission to do so,as long as she wore no other colour but black seeing she was in mourning.

They had one child born in Trieste (My Mother) 16.01.1949.

They came to Australia in 1958,I have no idea on which boat though!

I am only sumizing the rest of the family is maybe in Trieste also.
Does anyone have any thoughts on how I go about finding them?

There is one way, but you got to have a lot of luck.
go to this site
www.paginebianche.it
on the field "Cognome o nome Azienda" digit Schiavuzzi
leave the field "Nome" blank
on the field "Dove" digit TS (menas province of Trieste)
will appear 5 names, with address.
Write to them and ask if they have news about your grandfather.
If you want to try with Pipan too, but they are at leats 50!

Hey. I'm also doing research on my family in Trieste. My great grandfather Francisco Ettore Pipan (changed his name to Francis Hector Pipan) grew up there, then left for the USA when he was a young man (maybe in his 20s?) He settled in the New York area, and married Mary Sigerson. His father was Antonius Pipan who married Josephine Boltor (maybe misspelled?). Their families were from Comen or Komen(Antonius) and Gortz (Josephine). (My father is Gregory Pipan, son of Richard Pipan, Son of Francisco Ettore Pipan, son of Antonius Pipan)

I am also having a hard time finding good records on these people. I do not want to spend a lot of money, and feel like these records should be available to the public somewhere. Let me know how things are going with your search! I have seen Pipans, but there aren't really that many of them!
