How do I start a birth record search in Italy?

This is my second question. I would like to find the birth records for:
Francesco Lonetto, born October 27, 1878 in Mesoraca
Caterina Mancuso, born February 10, 1880, in Mesoraca
and their son:
Salvatore Lonetto, born May 28, 1908
Also, do you need the name of a church to find a marriage record?
I have the date November 26, year ? (1907 or before) in Mesoraca.

Civil recortds in Calabria go back to 1803 so you can request birth,marriage and death records along with Family status ceretioficates (certificato di Stato di Famiglia) for each head of household. Write to Ufficio di Stato Civile, Postale 88838 Comune di Mesoraca, Provincia di Crotone, Calabria region, Italy and include a donation (the service is free but the moromon church people suggest $5.00 for each document) You can send $5.00 in a Euro check or Postal cupons or cash if you wish but checks or money orders cannot be cashed by the civil authorities. An International Bank check for the documents would be the best but will cost you a commission to draw a check. In any event olversdeas mail requests are last in thierr priorities since they take care of all walk in and italian requests first.Send an enclosed self addressed envelope to speed things along. Requests shopuld be in Italian andf go to www.italianancestry.com in part 3 for form letters and the family certificate has the immediate family by birth,marriage and death (if any). Peter

You should request in Italian and go to www.italianancestry.com in part 3 for the form letters and the family certificate has the names of the immediate family members, births, marriages and deaths. Peter

anagrafe is the cernsus office and you can make your request jointly or separately as you wish. Peter

I put the forms in the mail today. I made six requests, three birth records, one marriage record and two head of household records.
I included three self-addressed envelopes, $20.00 and sent it by registered mail ($9.10). I'll keep you informed when I recieve a response.
