As a nation state, Italy has emerged only in 1871. Until then the country was politically divided into a large number of independant cities, provinces and islands. The currently available evidences point out to a dominant Etruscan, Greek and Roman cultural influence on today's Italians.
I wonder if anyone knows if there is a way to get old files from Itlay for people who served in the war, WWII mostly?
Who would I write to or where would i look? Any ideas? Both my grandfathers faught in the war however they didn't bring any of their papers with them when they came to Canada.
I wondered if there was a way to search for records or anything like that?
