Surname Ilacqua in Buenes Aires

Post by daenamousso »

I am looking for my great greandfather's brother who immigrated to Buenes Aires, probably around 1912. I do not have a first name, but his last name was ILACQUA, from Spadafora MESSINA Sicily. My ggrandfather's name was Matteo Ilacqua. Oral stories have it that they were orphaned, so I have no other information.

Hi Daenamousso!
At www.apellidositalianos.com.ar , there are five people who look for ILACQUA. Have you seen them?
If not, just go to www.apellidositalianos.com.ar , enter Listado de Apellidos, then Base de Datos; you can use Buscar Todos los Apellidos or Buscar Apellido Exacto; I always choose the latter. There, write "ILACQUA" and press Enter. (The Ilacqua's are on page nº 2.)
Besides, there are three immigrants named ILACQUA at http://213.212.128.168/radici/ie/defaultie.htm .
Good luck!
Greetings from Argentina

Daena,

Here's the links. The addresses were corrupted due to the punctuation marks (, and .) at the end.

I checked out the links. I saw the three Ilacqua immigrants. I dont know which it would be. Antonio perhaps would be about the right age, and Vito would be about the right age. Until I can get more information obout my ggrandfather, Matteo Ilacqua, I will have to wait. All I know is that he had three brothers and he was orphaned. Matteo immigrated to the US in 1912 because his brother-in-law was here. His brother in law is named on the manifest, but it is of no help in finding his actual brothers. None on the other site jumped out at me...They are from Messina, Sicily, comune of Spadafora (I have also seen some records that say Venetico) which is near Spadafora.

Through the help of a very generous person doing research on Spadafora, I have found that one of Matteo's brother's names was Pietro Ilacqua, born abt 1882 in San Martino (near Spadafora). His parents names were Giuseppe Ilacqua and Rosaria Moschitta.
