Hello, I have just found this site and am hoping there are any Aiello's or Pucillo's that [had have] immigrated to the US from Calabria. I don't have much info about my family since they all passed on when I was young.
I am looking for my ancestors in Italy. I can not get there from here for some reason.

There are 1,221 persons in the Calabria region surnamed Aiello while there are no persons in all of Calabria surnamed Pucillo. But since you say that both came from Calabria but did not know the town of origin it may be possible to do something. If you go to the www.ellisisland.org wesbite and look under Pucillo there are 78 persons who entered the USA as immigrants at NYC. It may be possible they came into the USA thru another por but I must defer to you and I ask you for whatever additional information you have even though it may not seem imporant to you for the moment.I will work with you. There are things we can do together and concentrate on Pucillo to find the town of origin for youir history,documents and relatives. Peter
In continuing this research please include the first name of the Pucillo reelative, if known, so that you can narrow down the search for the Pucillo who came from Calabria among the 78 with that name in the ellis island records. If that does not work out then you can gho to NARA for a national name check. Peter
Pucillo Aiello Choffello DeMaples
These are some of the other names I have come across (DeMaples).
My family is deceased and my parent's died when I was 4, so I have limited knowledge.
I believe I made a mistake about PUCILLO, I believe they were from Montemiletta (Abruzzi region?)
My grandfather Jack (Gianchino) Pucillo was born in Italy 1877. died in MA Feb 6 1960. He lived in the US for 40 yrs. His parent's were James Pucillo and Louise from Montemiletta Italy.
His wife was Rose (Choffello sp?)
Her parent's were Patrick Choffello and Josephina DeMaples. I do not know where they were married. They had 6 children here in MA, Salvatore, Joseph, James, Patrick, Louise and Edith.
Rose was born in Italy in 1881 and died Dec. 23, 1954.
The Aiello's are from Calabria or Sicily. My grandfather was Anthony Aiello and grandmother was Marion Aiello. She came here with a friend named Nicholas Como, and I believe she and my grandfather must have been married here.
They had 5 children, Salvatore, John, Romeo, Marie and my mother Annette all deceased.
I have the name of a ship the SS ALLERTON, who that ship brought is unclear and where it landed is unknown. These people were all from the Boston area (Readville).
I also have a name Nicholas A. Pucillo if and how he is related to me is an unknown. He was in WWII and entered from Massachusetts. He is buried in the Florence American Cemetary, died April 19, 1945 from the 337th Infantry Regiment, 85th Infantry Division, buried in Plot C, Row 9, grave 2.

Thereare two Pucillo surnamed persons in Montemiletto. Go to the www.paginebianche.it where I told you to put in the Pucillo surname in the first line and Montemiletto in the third line and click CERCA. The two name will appear. Write to them in very simple english, if not italian which is preferable and ask them if they are related to you. Peter

The surname Pucillo is diffused all over Campania. Due the fact that you talk about Montemiletto, I suggest you to try the search in "pagine bianche" using in the third field the code AV. You will have all the Pucillo living in Avellino and in towns of that district.
